500 CHARTRES STREET, NEW ORLEANS, ORLEANS PARISH, LOUISIANA
Built in 1794, this historic house is also known as the Mayor Girod House or Nicolas Girod House. While the building was expanded in 1814, the name of this home stems from the local town legend that Napoleon Bonaparte planned to live there after his exile. According to legend, his stay at this residence was prevented and never actually happened. Today it has become one of the most famous bars in America owned by the Impastato family since 1914 and Ralph Brennan since 2015.
