Baseboards, also known as base moldings, serve both aesthetic and functional purposes. While most often used aesthetically, base moldings still cover up imperfections and gaps between the base and floor, while also protecting the wall from damage. It’s generally recommended to nail quarter round base molding instead of gluing.
